Greetings! You are invited to an enthralling rendition of classical Carnatic (South Indian classical) music by Sandeep Narayan, one of India's most sought after young artists today. Sandeep will be accompanied by veteran artists from India - H.N. Bhaskar on violin, Neyveli Narayanan on mridangam (South Indian two-sided drum), and N. Guruprasad on the ghatam (clay pot drum). Carnatic music, one of the oldest systems of music in the world, is a complex and intricate system with aesthetic values built on a basic spiritual foundation. Each concert is a unique experience that can transport the listener into a meditative realm. This concert is organized by Isha Foundation to raise awareness about the Rally For Rivers campaign. Today we are faced with a number of global environmental challenges. Being a tropical country, India is deeply affected by climate change and its rivers are seeing dangerous levels of depletion. As an agricultural country with a billion-strong population, India is on the threshold of a grave ecological and human crisis. Sadhguru, a realized yogi, mystic and founder of Isha Foundation is initiating a massive campaign to create the necessary awareness towards this imminent calamity and to implement policy and lifestyle changes in reviving the lifelines of India. Join the Airmen of Note live for this special tour concert! The United States Air Force is celebrating it's 70th birthday this year and this performance will highlight the band's legacy in the world's greatest air force. The Airmen of Note is the premier jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force. Stationed at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C., it is one of six musical ensembles that comprise The U.S. Air Force Band. Created in 1950 to continue the tradition of Major Glenn Miller's Army Air Forces dance band, the current band consists of 20 active duty Airmen musicians including one vocalist. Through the years, the Airmen of Note has presented its own brand of big band jazz as well as more contemporary forms of jazz to audiences via annual tours across the United States, deployments around the world and local performances throughout metropolitan Washington, D.C. For smaller, more intimate venues, the Airmen of Note Combo and various individual musicians perform apart from the full band to support military and civilian ceremonial and diplomatic events. As part of The U.S. Air Force Band, The Airmen of Note honors those who have served, inspires American citizens to heightened patriotism and service, and positively impacts the global community on behalf of the U.S. Air Force and the United States.
