- Every day approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find their way into our oceans.
- There may now be around 5.25 trillion macro and micro-plastic pieces floating in the open ocean. Weighing up to 269,000 tonnes.
- Plastics consistently make up 60 to 90% of all marine debris studied.
- Approximately 5,000 items of marine plastic pollution have been found per mile of beach in the UK.
- Over 150 plastic bottles litter each mile of UK beaches.
- Recent studies have revealed marine plastic pollution in 100% of marine turtles, 59% of whales, 36% of seals and 40% of seabird species examined.
- 100,000 marine mammals and turtles and 1 million sea birds are killed by marine plastic pollution annually.

There’s a lot to learn when it comes to online fundraising and it can seem hard to keep up and know who to trust when it comes to best practices. This workshop will lay the groundwork for great and sustainable online fundraising based on 1,200 real experiments and multiple in-market research studies from NextAfter — a fundraising research lab that works alongside nonprofits to develop research as to why their donors give and put those learnings into practice to help them reach more people, acquire more donors, and generate more dollars to fund their world-changing work..
In the morning, you’ll get a sense of what online fundraising is, why it’s important for your cause, and how it’s currently being done in Canada. Then you’ll dive deeper into getting and sending (quality) emails as the main driver to online revenue before learning about the 3 types of donation pages and how to use and optimize them.
Finally, there will be time to submit your own emails and donation pages to be optimized live and alongside others in the workshop. With lots of time and opportunity for questions and discussion, you’ll be sure to walk away with practical ideas to try, optimize, and improve your current online fundraising and digital marketing.
$200+hst includes registration rate, handouts, a continental breakfast and lunch. Parking if free.

Every year Canadian registered charities must file the T3010 Registered Charity Information Return with the Charities Directorate of CRA. In June 2019 Canadian registered charities will be able to file the T3010 online which will make the process easier and quicker. If charities do not file the form, they can be revoked by CRA for non-filing. If the T3010 is not filed accurately it can be cause for suspension of a charity's receipting privileges.
The T3010 is a complicated form dealing for some charities with legal, accounting and operational issues. This seminar will focus on the legal and operational issues and not accounting issues. Understanding the T3010 is essential for those involved with finance and governance at charities, as well as researchers, grant writers, funders and fundraisers.
Topics Include / You Will Learn:
• Vital Income Tax Act (Canada) definitions needed to complete the form • The T3010 guide and its importance • CRA Guidance and how it impacts the T3010 • Common mistakes in completing the T3010 • Consequences of incomplete or inaccurate T3010 filing • Schedules and other documents required to be filed with the T3010 • Strategies for filing T3010 accurately and in a timely fashion • Fixing past mistakes with the T3010 • Other mandatory and suggested transparency requirements • Tools to review T3010 filings • How the T3010 information is being used and misused • Limitations of the T3010 data • What information on the form tends to be accurate and what less so
• What changes will be taking place with electronic filing in June 2019 that you need to know
While the T3010 can be complicated and there are many ways in which a charity can show transparency, the T3010 is the minimum legal requirement of charities. The T3010 is one of the main tools that the CRA uses to decide which charity will be audited and it is often consulted by major donors and funders when making important decisions that can affect charities.
Cost: $225.00 (includes snacks and coffee, materials, and registration fees).
The program will be led by charity lawyer Mark Blumberg.
The program is sponsored by Guardian Capital:
Blumbergs’ Fundamentals of the T3010 and Transparency for Canadian charities will be of interest to staff at non-profits and charities responsible for compliance issues especially finance and governance at charities, as well as researchers, grant writers, funders, fundraisers, programs officers, professional advisors such as lawyers and accountants who advise charities and non-profits, and board members of Canadian charities.

The mission of The Yellow Door is to give support to individuals with autism and their families while promoting student leadership and involvement in the local community. The name, "The Yellow Door" comes from an individual with autism that many years ago that liked doors. When asked what their favorite color for a door would be if they could pick, they answered: "yellow, because it's like opening a door of sunshine." That positive image is something that The Yellow Door hopes to foster. The mission of the Chico State Autism Clinic is to promote the sensory, motor, communicative, and cognitive skills of individuals with autism through a multi-sensory approach to learning. How does Autism effect the community? • Autism now affects 1 in 68 children• Boys are four times more likely to have autism than girls• About 40% of children with autism do not speak. About 25%–30% of children with autism have some words at 12 to 18 months of age and then lose them. Others might speak, but not until later in childhood• Autism greatly varies from person to person (no two people with autism are alike)• The rate of autism has steadily grown over the last twenty years• Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disorder, yet most underfunded• A 2008 Danish Study found that the mortality risk among those with autism was nearly twice that of the general population• Children with autism do progress – early intervention is key• Autism is treatable, not a hopeless condition
